Interlink Modules for Fall II, 2011
- Each full-time student must attend at least 3 hours of modules every week.
- To attend a module, you must sign up ahead of time. Students who don’t sign up may not be able to come.
- Each week, you must sign up again, even if you were in that module before. There is no guarantee that you will get the same module each week.
- There is a limit of 15 people per module. Students who sign up and attend on time have priority; those who sign up or come late may not be able to come.
- If you are 5 minutes late to the module, your place may be given to a student on the waiting list for that module.

Extra RW Practice: Levels 2, 3, and 4
Description: We will do reading and writing activities to review confusing concepts and help increase your skills. Our topics will include: brainstorming, organizing, reading comprehension, summarizing, spelling, sentence structure, revision. If you want extra practice in RW skills, come to this module!
Proficient Pronunciation
Description: We will focus on 1-2 areas of pronunciation each week, including sounds, syllables, and intonation. Each class will start with a listening quiz and then a discussion of that week’s sounds and how to say them correctly. We will continue by practicing in pairs and small groups and end with a few games. Come ready to make noise!

Fun with Idioms on Mondays from 2:30-4:00 PM
“It’s raining cats and dogs.” “I was so nervous I had butterflies in my stomach!”
English can be a strange language since it is filled with idioms like the ones in the above two sentences! If you want to learn what those and other idioms mean, then come to this module! We will look at a group of idioms each week and learn what they mean and more importantly, how to use them correctly. You will soon discover that they are a very important part of the English language.
RW 3 Intermediate Grammar on Wednesdays from 2:30-4:00 PM
In this module, students from RW 3 will focus on specific grammar problems that they have been having trouble with in their writing. Anyone from RW 3 can attend; however, places will go first to those students who have been recommended to go from their teachers.

Upper Level (3-5) Vocabulary Module: Thursdays 3:30-5:00pm Location: McIver 322
This module will focus on vocabulary building and instruction. This interactive module will be fun and engaging. We will focus on group activities and games to engage you in vocabulary learning. We will review synonyms, antonyms, idioms, and American slang, while playing fun interactive games. Come and learn vocabulary and have fun at the same time! There is a limit of 15 people. You must sign up for the class by Friday afternoon. Those who have signed up will have priority, but if you are 5 minutes late, your place may be taken by someone else.

English Grammar for Level 1 and 2 Students
In this module, students from the lower levels of English study will discuss various grammar problems that they meet with in writing and speech. You must be in a level 1 or 2 class to attend this module, and teachers can specially recommend that students take this module.

Get Good Grades with Superior Study Skills
Everybody wants to get better grades, but not everybody knows how! Studying for a long time won't bring you success, but studying effectively will! In this module, we will focus on these topics: how to plan your time, how to improve your note-taking, how to study so that you will remember, and how to do better on tests. Bring your questions and study problems, and we'll try to solve them together.
We'll meet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30 to 4:00 in McIver 324.
There is a limit of 15 people. You must sign up for the class by Friday afternoon on David’s office door-Room 06.

RW4 Supplemental Skills
Monday 2:30-4:00
In this class, we will explore skills necessary to pass RW4, including sentence-level grammar, paragraph development, and reading. It will also be a time to conference individually with an RW4 teacher and to have any work corrected.
Drama Games
Tuesday 2:30-4:00
In this class, we will use improvisational theater games to improve our English. We’ll learn to think quickly to deal with a variety of situations.

Greensboro Cultural Outings Module: Fridays 2:30-4:00pm - Various locations
Each week students will explore Greensboro. We will visit museums, restaurants, and engage in other cultural activities. Come and enjoy Greensboro with your fellow INTERLINK students, meet new people, enjoy a variety of activities in and around the UNCG area, and most importantly practice your English conversation skills! There are fees associated with particular activities; these fees will be located on the sign up sheet each week. We will take the bus for off campus activities. Carpooling is also encouraged!
